Connecticut may be small, but it is filled with beautiful waterfalls, scenic hiking trails, hidden gems, and peaceful places to explore throughout every season. From towering cascades tucked inside state parks to quiet local waterfalls that many people drive right past, there is no shortage of amazing spots to discover across the state.

Over the past few years, I have explored and filmed several waterfalls throughout Connecticut. Some are popular destinations that attract visitors from all over New England, while others are quiet hidden escapes perfect for a peaceful afternoon outdoors.

Whether you are searching for easy waterfall hikes in Connecticut, family-friendly nature spots, scenic photography locations, or simply a relaxing Connecticut day trip, these waterfalls are all worth adding to your list.

Here we go!

Kent Falls at Kent Falls State Park

Located in the beautiful town of Kent, Kent Falls is one of the most famous and photographed waterfalls in Connecticut. The waterfall features multiple cascading levels that flow down through the park, creating stunning scenery year-round.

One of the best parts about Kent Falls is that it is accessible for almost everyone. Visitors can enjoy views of the falls right near the parking area or take the short hiking trail and staircase that leads to scenic overlooks higher up the waterfall.

During the fall season, the colorful foliage surrounding the waterfall makes this one of the best photography spots in Connecticut.

Westfield Falls (Middletown, Connecticut)

Westfield Falls is a small but incredibly scenic waterfall located in Middletown, Connecticut, tucked away in a quiet natural area that many people drive past without realizing it is there. Despite its size, it is one of those spots that feels peaceful, local, and unexpectedly beautiful once you arrive.

The waterfall flows over a rocky ledge into a calm pool area surrounded by forest, making it a great place for a short nature stop, photography, or a quiet break outdoors. Because it is not as heavily developed as larger Connecticut state parks, Westfield Falls has a more natural and less crowded feel.

One of the unique things about this location is how accessible it is. You do not need a long hike to reach the falls, which makes it a great quick stop if you are exploring Middletown or passing through central Connecticut.

Middletown itself adds to the experience. After visiting the waterfall, you are only a short drive from downtown Middletown, which has restaurants, coffee shops, and views along the Connecticut River. It also makes a nice pairing with other nearby outdoor spots if you are planning a longer day trip.
