Last week, we finally got a break from the dreadful stormy weather. I was happy to finally see some sunshine and didn’t want to miss out on an opportunity to spend the day outside.
I’d been wanting to visit a waterfall for months and decided today would be the day. While looking into Connecticut waterfalls, I saw one that really piqued my interest but it was over an hour drive away. I wasn’t up for that kind of journey, so I kept looking and to my surprise I was able to find one that was only about a 20-minute drive away.

Southford Falls State Park is a beautiful family friendly park located in Southbury, Connecticut.

This 169 acre park was previously the location of the Diamond Match Company but was established as a state park in 1932.

This has already become one of my favorite parks because of the peacefulness and beauty that I experienced for the short while that I was there. I spent some time in the shade, sitting on a rock (trying my best not to lose my balance and fall in) and admiring the falls.
